1. Who we are
Volta Robotics Limited t/a Red Raven Renewables ("we", "us", "our") designs, supplies and installs battery energy storage systems (BESS) for commercial, agricultural and domestic customers in Ireland.
For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and the Data Protection Act 2018, Red Raven Renewables is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

3. What we collect, why, and our legal basis
3.1 Website enquiries and contact forms
What we collect: your name, email address, phone number, business name, and whatever you choose to tell us in your message.
Why: to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to prepare a quotation or proposal.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) — steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract. Where your enquiry is general rather than a request for a quote, our legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests, namely responding to people who contact our business.
3.2 Battery sizing calculator
What we collect: the details you enter about your site and energy use — such as electricity consumption, tariff, existing solar or inverter equipment, and site type — together with the contact details you provide to receive your results.
Why: to generate an indicative system size and estimated returns for you, to send you those results, and to follow up with a more detailed proposal if you have asked us to.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) — steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract.
Site and energy data about a business premises is generally not personal data. Where the site is a private home, consumption data can identify a household, and we treat it as personal data accordingly.
3.3 Quotations, contracts and installation
What we collect: contact and billing details, site address, technical survey information, photographs of the installation area and electrical infrastructure, grid connection details, and correspondence.
Why: to design and price the system, to carry out the installation safely and lawfully, to invoice you, and to meet our record-keeping obligations.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) performance of a contract, and Article 6(1)(c) compliance with a legal obligation (tax, electrical safety and waste-handling records).
3.4 System monitoring and telemetry
Where we have agreed to monitor a system we have installed, our equipment transmits operating data — such as state of charge, voltage, temperature, charge and discharge activity, fault codes and site energy flows — to our monitoring platform.
Why: to verify the system is operating safely, to diagnose faults, to provide support and warranty service, and to improve our system designs.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) performance of our service and warranty obligations to you, and Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests in the safe operation of equipment we have supplied.
For commercial and agricultural sites this data relates to a business and is generally not personal data. For a private home, energy consumption patterns can reveal information about the household, and we treat this data as personal data. We use it only for the purposes above and do not sell it or use it for marketing. All data is hosted on a device at your premises with data replicated to a server located within the EU.
3.5 Website analytics
We use analytics to understand how many people visit our site and which pages are useful, so we can improve it.
Framer Analytics. Framer whose built-in analytics do not use cookies and do not identify individual visitors. We see aggregate figures such as page views, approximate country, device type and referring website.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests in understanding how our website performs.
Google Analytics We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, which uses cookies to measure how visitors use our site. Google Analytics is only loaded after you consent through our cookie banner, and you can withdraw that consent at any time using the cookie settings link on our site.
Legal basis: your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Regulation 5 of the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011.
3.6 Email correspondence
Email you send us, and our replies, are stored in our Google Workspace mailboxes. We keep correspondence for as long as it is relevant to an ongoing or completed project, and then in line with the retention periods in section 6.
4. Cookies
A cookie is a small file stored on your device by a website.
Strictly necessary cookies. Our site uses a small number of cookies required for it to function and to remember your cookie preferences. These do not require your consent.
Analytics cookies. These are set only if you accept them through our cookie banner. They help us count visits and understand which pages are used. You can accept or reject them, and change your mind at any time.
We do not use advertising or profiling cookies.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as expected if you do.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under a written agreement, and with third parties where the law requires it.

6. Sending data outside the EEA
Some of the providers above are based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on one or both of the following safeguards:
the provider's certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission in July 2023; and/or
the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, together with additional technical and organisational measures where needed.

7. How long we keep your data

Where we no longer need personal data, we delete it or anonymise it.
8. How we protect your data
We use access-controlled accounts with multi-factor authentication, encrypted connections to our website and monitoring systems, and limit access to personal data to those in the business who need it. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the size of our business and the sensitivity of the data.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy
rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete
erase your data, where we have no continuing lawful reason to keep it
restrict how we use your data while a concern is resolved
object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, including any direct marketing
data portability — receive data you gave us in a machine-readable format, where processing is based on consent or contract
withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (this does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it)
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@redraven.ie. We will respond within one month. That period can be extended by a further two months for complex requests, and we will tell you if that happens. There is normally no charge.
We do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. The sizing calculator produces an indicative estimate only; every proposal is reviewed by a person before it is issued.

11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make a significant change to how we use personal data, we will say so on this page.
